E-Mail Lists

As a timely method of communication with your Clan officials and announcements between newsletters, the Clan Ramsay Association maintains an email distribution system.  This email list, called CLAN-RAMSAY and distributed by Rootsweb, is intended for the use of Clan members, but anyone interested in the Clan Ramsay is allowed to join. 

The CLAN-RAMSAY list is not intended for genealogical inquiries and discussions.  For those interested in pursuing their family genealogy, there are two Ramsay/Ramsey surname genealogy email distribution lists:  RAMSAY and RAMSEY.  These lists are intended for genealogical research and tend to be more active than the CLAN-RAMSAY list.  Most people subscribe to both the RAMSAY list and the RAMSEY list if they are doing genealogical research.  These email lists are not connected to the Clan Ramsay Association, but we list them here for your information.

You can subscribe to any of these email lists in Regular Mode (-L) or Digest Mode(-D).  Digest Mode combines several of the day’s messages into one email, adds a table of contents to the top of the combined messages, and sends it to you periodically.  At the present time, all of the Ramsay/Ramsey lists are low-traffic and it isn’t very common to receive more than one message a day, even in Regular Mode.  There can be several weeks between messages in some instances.  You can choose the mode the list sends messages depending on how you subscribe.  Instructions for posting messages will be sent to you when you subscribe to the list.

Allow a day for the subscribe or unsubscribe request to take effect.  There are often several messages in the pipeline before yours.  You will receive a welcoming or confirmation message once your request is processed.  If you have any difficulty subscribing/unsubscribing or sending messages to the list, please feel free to for assistance.

Rootsweb also sponsors message boards for having discussions without having to subscribe to an email list. You can visit the message boards for the Clan Ramsay and for Ramsay and Ramsey genealogical research.  Messages posted to these boards are also forwarded to the email lists described above.  So they are an easy way to post a message without actually joining a list.  The Clan Ramsay message board is not run by the Clan Ramsay Association, but messages posted there are forwarded to the CLAN-RAMSAY email list.
