The Clan Ramsay Genealogy Project
The Clan Ramsay Genealogy project’s mission is to foster the spirit of kinship and pride existing among all who have Ramsay ancestry, regardless of spelling. Clan family names include: Ramsay, Ramsey, Dalhousie, Ramsay of Bamff, Ramsay of Balmain, Maule, Brecheen, and Brechin. The clan genealogy database was established in 1997 to provide a clearinghouse for Ramsay family data and history.

Accessing the Information

The Clan genealogy database is accessible to members only in the Members Only area of this website.
- If a Clan member finds a connection in the database and would like to correspond with the data submitter, the Clan Genealogist will provide the following information when known: Names and last known addresses of the member who submitted the information.
Submitting Information
- Members are encouraged to submit their genealogy data for the project. You submit it via family group sheets and pedigree charts.
- Data submitted by clan members is entered into a database, however, the information is not verified by the genealogist. Verification of the data is the responsibility of the submitter.
- Information on collateral lines is important in addition to principal Ramsay lineage. The more marriage links, geographical location data, and dates provided, the better the chance of making a connection with the project data. Documentation of cited events is encouraged.
- Please submit corrected or additional information, whenever found, so the Clan genealogy database can be as accurate as possible.
- Any data submitted will be shared with other researchers upon request, however, no commercial use of the data will be made.
